Aims & Objectives

The aims and objectives of the Institute are as follows:

  1. To establish a forum for the planners to meet and participate in expressing and exchanging their views relating to planning matters of public and private interests.

  2. To promote and ensure the enforcement of professional planning standards and practices to regulate and streamline the process of physical growth and development in the urban and rural areas.

  3. To liaise, cooperate, and collaborate with all public and private agencies engaged in physical development processes and activities and render such advice, as may be necessary, in the interest of environmental improvements and infrastructure efficiency.

  4. To undertake research and hold seminars, conferences, and exhibitions to inculcate interest and disseminate information to the professional planners, political leaders, administrators and the general public in matters pertaining to physical planning issues and problems.

  5. To publish magazines, pamphlets, newsletters comprising information relating to planning activities and other related development fields.

  6. To safeguard and promote the interest of the professional planners in particular and the profession in general.

  7. To develop a professional Code of Conduct for the planners and ensure its enforcement to control and check the unethical professional practices.

  8. To establish and maintain close coordination with all the related professional institutions, bodies, and agencies both in Pakistan and abroad and which are engaged, directly or indirectly, in the physical planning and development related activities in the public and private sectors.

  9. To do all lawful things and adopt all such measures as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the Aims and Objectives as described above.
